Roots Rock Kitchen Party

Rock & Roll with Folked-up Soul

James Ferris is a Canadian Singer/Songwriter and Entertainer from Halifax, Nova Scotia. When asked about his influences, he simply says "Good music, whatever brought folks together and made you move". " I lived in a neighborhood that mostly listened to Motown and Soul, Celtic music is the fabric of my East Coast community and culture, and my parents had Country and 60's Pop playing in the house all the time. I guess I was just lucky" Lucky indeed, and those influences resonate in every ounce of music that flows through his body, whether he's penning a new tune, or performing live in one of the many groups he puts together to suit the ocassion. James is a journeyman of sorts, either assembling a production of talented musicians for a big event, or stripping it down to an intimate solo acoustic delivery. What really separates James from most artists is the way he connects with his audience, wielding his raspy, gritty, soulful voice with emotional precision to deliver heart-felt melodies or barn-burning sing-a-long anthems. Its no surprise Mr. Ferris draws a crowd wherever he plays.
